May the Lord Bless Dr. McCann. 30 years ago I was gravely ill and in Lawrence Hospital - for months. Dr. Mc Cann was not part of my "team" of Physicians, though one day - by chance, I guess, he wandered into my room "just to say hello and ask how was I doing." Neither of us knew one eac other but - for what ever the reason this bit of basic humanity made such a difference in those months there.
While it sounds like nothing, and it was nothing, but... it was EVERYTHING. I always rememered his visit and when I was able to get on my feet I found my way to his office - to thank him. I had to. He recalled our conversation and greeted me with the same humble nonchalant friendliness that was who he was. I'm grateful that - somehow - he found his way to my room that day. I'll never forget.
