Obituary of Frances Eagan

Frances Eagan, also known as “Fran” and “Frankie,” passed away on February 17, 2023. She was born on July 22, 1930, in Essex, Connecticut. She was one of 6 children born to Thomas and Cecilia (Campbell) Eagan, all of whom predeceased her – Thomas, Jr., Elizabeth, John, James, and, recently Margaret “Pat” Eagan. Fran is survived by her cousins, Robert “Corky” Radicchi, Elizabeth “Betty” Radicchi, Carol Hanover, James and Thomas Mondani, Robert and Peter Mondani and, of course, her beloved miniature schnauzer, Kessy. Fran was a retired civil servant, who worked in and with the Superior Court system in lower Fairfield County. Upon her retirement she returned home to Deep River and moved into the family house with her sister Pat on Village Street. Fran had a vibrant spirit that was immediately apparent upon interacting with her. She could talk endlessly on many subjects. She was especially passionate about politics and fashion, staying current on fashion trends and political upheavals. She was always reading the latest political books and fashion magazines. She loved shopping, as was very apparent from her large clothing collection. She was always quick to laugh and easily made those around her comfortable. Fran was a very generous woman. She helped establish the Eagan Family Foundation, which provides funding for various local and national scientific, medical and educational charities that are close to her heart. Although Fran did not have children of her own, she was young at heart and rejoiced in celebrating the joy children can bring to life. And, in that regard, she assisted with and contributed towards the educational scholarship foundation that her sister, Pat, created. Fran enjoyed spending vacations on Nantucket and in Florida with Pat and their dogs. And, of course, jetting to the casino with Carol in the Mercedes that had become known as “the rocket-ship”. She was an avid Red Sox fan and a life-long practicing Catholic. She was quick witted to the end and had an edge to her, but she was a good and kind-hearted soul that will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24th, from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook.
