Obituary of Margaret Alice Weisenburger

Margaret “Beanie” Alice Weisenburger (née Kistulinec) of Chester, CT, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023, following a courageous fight with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. She was surrounded by those who loved her deeply: her husband, children, and dearest friend. Margaret was born on July 22, 1950, in New Britain, CT. She grew up in Plainville, CT, and attended Plainville High School, where she met the love of her life and husband of over 50 years, Skip Weisenburger. Margaret graduated from Garland Junior College in Boston, MA, now Simmons College, with a degree in retail merchandising. Her professional career began at Southern New England Telephone Company where she was employed for 15 years. With her impeccable style and innate practical business acumen, Margaret then creatively and fearlessly flourished as the buyer for Ceramica Importing, Inc., for 30 years – traveling independently throughout Italy, Morocco, and New York. Margaret and Skip proudly raised their three children in Chester, CT, and she quickly became a fixture in the community. Margaret was a founding volunteer for the well-known Chester Sunday Market. She dedicated equal time to the United Church of Chester serving on the Outreach Committee and volunteering for many fundraising efforts. Margaret was accepting, generous, and loving in all that she did. As such, she was happiest when spending quality time with family and dear friends at home and in Maine, Michigan, and Vermont. Margaret was a voracious reader, an avid UConn women’s basketball fan, and enjoyed dancing to Motown music. She also loved going to the Rhode Island beaches, hunting for antique and vintage treasures, and traveling throughout the Caribbean, Europe, and the United States. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen Kistulinec (née Suzor). She is survived by her husband, Skip Weisenburger of Chester, their three children, their spouses, and their families: Leigh and Austin Albert of Lewiston, Maine, Amy and Joseph Bierbaum of Rocky Hill, CT, and Steven and Tara Weisenburger of Chester, CT. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Raymond of Pittston, Maine, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Margaret’s six grandchildren were her ultimate joy and pride: Josephine and Lawrence Albert, Wynne and Joseph Bierbaum, and Reiss and Stone Weisenburger. A Visitation will be held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral home in Centerbrook, CT, on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm and a Celebration of Life will be held at United Church of Chester on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11am. There will be a private burial at a later date at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in New Britain, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Margaret’s memory to the Friends of the Chester Public Library (21 West Main Street, Chester, CT 06412) or Middlesex Health’s Weiss Family Comfort Care Unit (28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457).
