Obituary of William F. Gardner
William F. "Bill" Gardner, age 80, passed away on Thursday morning, April 2, 2015 at the West Haven Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven. Bill was the beloved husband of Susan (Houghten) Gardner. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey on July 30, 1934 the son of George P. and Hazel (VanWinkle) Gardner. Bill had been a resident of Killingworth since 1967 and was a Printer at the New Haven Register for 30 years retiring in 1999. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Bill enjoyed playing the piano and woodworking. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his wife Susan, he leaves his daughter, Stacey Gardner Wells and her husband James of Deep River, his grandchildren, Cheryl Heft and Eddie Heft and his wife Erica, his step-grandson, Broden Wells and his six great-grandchildren. His funeral service and the Rendering of Full Military Honors will be privately held by his family in the chapel of the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook.
