Obituary of Hazel Ebmeyer
Hazel "Jill" Ebmeyer, age 83, of Essex, the beloved wife of Carl Ebmeyer passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Jill was born on January 5, 1932, the daughter of Robert and Loretta (Wilcox) Whittington. She had been a resident of Essex for the past seven years and formally grew up in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania. Shortly after graduating high school she married Ralph Amos in 1951 and moved to Connecticut. She spent the next several years caring for her growing family. After the death of her first husband, Hazel went to work in retail. She was a quick learner and a people person. She gradually worked her way up and eventually became a buyer for ladies shoes for Gimbals in NYC. In 1970 she married Carl Ebmeyer and moved to York, Pa. In 2007 they moved to Essex. She loved cooking and baking, was a die hard Celtic fan, and took great pleasure in large family dinners. Jill was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Amos and her two sons, Randy and Barry. Jill is survived by her daughters: Susan, and her husband Stephen Weatherby of Essex, Sally Wotjkewicz of Niantic, Diane, and her husband Dr. Joseph Carlisi of York, Pennsylvania, and Carla Ebmeyer and her husband Nicholas Bobko of West Haven. Jill is also survived by her grandchildren: Andrew and Laura Wotjekewicz, Zachary Carlisi, and Douglas Weatherby. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Hotchkiss and the staff of Connecticut Kidney Center for the great care and kindness given to Hazel these past three years. The family would also like to thank Masonicare and Middlesex Hospice. Services will be privately held by the family.
