Obituary of Peter J. Gibbons

Peter J. Gibbons of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully on October 3, 2015 surrounded by his family. Pete, was born in New Haven, CT. He is survived by his wife Gayle (Stanco) Gibbons, his children Peter Gibbons III, and his wife Laurie of North Haven, Stephanie Gibbons of Wallingford, Tracy Brunelle, and her husband Albert of Wallingford, and grandchildren Mathew Gibbons, Allyson, Rylee, and Megan Brunelle. Also, his brother Steven Gibbons of Milford, his sister-in-law Holly Smith of Vero Beach, FL and his many nieces, nephews and close friends. Pete retired as Vice President of marketing from O' Brien and Gere, Syracuse, New York after 25 years of employment. He was a great ally, advisor, colleague, mentor, and friend. He always acted with passion, honesty, common sense, good humor, and he always treated everyone with great respect and was loyal and committed to family and friends. Pete loved cooking family meals, exploring new restaurants throughout the country, a connoisseur of wine, loved to travel, especially to his favorite spot long boat key, Florida, but his family and grandchildren were his top priority in life. He will be truly missed. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday October 8th, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Saint John's Church, Old Saybrook. Immediately following, there will be a luncheon reception to celebrate Pete's life at Luigis Restaurant, Route1, Old Saybrook. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit Middlesex Hospital, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457 in Pete's memory.
