Obituary of Richard J. Gurnon

Richard (Dick) J. Gurnon, 89, passed away at home and in peace on 31 October 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, he served in the US Navy during WW II and lived in Danvers, MA, Buzzards Bay, MA, Old Saybrook, CT and Venice FL. For many decades, he was the proud owner of Charles Street Supply Hardware in Boston. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Emilie M. Gurnon. He is survived by his partner Patricia Cowles of Old Saybrook, CT, his three children, Richard G. Gurnon of Buzzards Bay, MA., Mary Ellen Gurnon of Venice, FL, and John F. Gurnon of Boston, MA, along with 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday 7 November 2015 at St. John Catholic Church,161 Main St, Old Saybrook, CT. A Celebration of Dick's Life will take place on Saturday 28 November at the Beachmoor in Buzzards Bay at 1:00PM. Interment will be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the Gurnon Family Scholarship at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 101 Academy Dr. Buzzards Bay, MA 02532 or to a charity of one's choice.
