Obituary of Estelle P. Stypa
Estelle Stypa of Westbrook and Chester peacefully returned to her God at the age of 95 and 7 months on Sunday January 24th, 2016 lovingly surrounded by her only child, Daniel, her son-in-law, David and dear friend, Sr. Theresa Carlow, SND. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 31 years, Andrew. Estelle was born in Summit, Illinois on April 6, 1920. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and sister-n-law. Estelle was a very independent and active woman. She was a professional cosmetologist for 60+ years, owning her own salon in Oak Lawn, Illinois for 30+ years. Estelle was a woman ahead of her time, being a "Renaissance woman". She was an award winning cosmetologist, accomplished business woman and homemaker. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, quilt, cook, bake, garden, oil paint, draw with oil pastels, read, garden, can produce, play the organ, bowl, play tennis, bike ride, exercise and travel to Europe, especially the Island of Capri, Italy. Estelle volunteered at the Estuary Council of Seniors in Old Saybrook. She volunteered in the Thrift Shop and as a front desk receptionist. Estelle was also a member of the original "Sassy Senior's" music group founded by her best friend, Emma Evangelisti. Estelle bowled through her 90th year at the AMF Saybrook Lanes achieving "Bowler of the Week" twice in one month. Estelle modeled for the Child and Family Agency's "Runway Flashback Fashion Show" for 7 years, taking her final walk down the runway at 91 years young. Estelle was a loving, humorous, quick witted and vibrant person with her family and many friends. She lived her life fully and with zest. She will be deeply missed and lovingly be remembered. Her family extends a special appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff at Aaron Manor in Chester, CT. for their compassionate, loving, excellent professional health and nursing care given to Estelle for the last 2 years and final days of her life. Appreciation is given also to the Masonicare Home Health & Hospice of Wallingford, CT. for their excellent and compassionate care provided to her. Plans for a Memorial Service and interment to celebrate the life of a "one in a million" woman will be announced at a later date.
