Obituary of Robert C. Brown
Robert C. Brown, PE, age 89, born in St. Louis, MO in 1926. Mr. Brown served four years in the Navy during WWII, and graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, MO with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He married Janet M. King in 1955 and they resided in CT where they raised their family. Mr. Brown was Senior Vice President of the William L. Crow Construction Company located in New York City and during that time led the group that built the largest office complex in CT, located in Danbury. He also built the Heublein corporate office building, the corporate office building for Xerox, architect I.M. Pei's Nestle/I.B.M. office building and Yamaski's Woodrow Wilson building at Princeton. Robert also managed the joint venture construction projects of both Philip Johnson's A.T. & T's building in Manhattan and the, "Peoples Express" Terminal C at Newark Airport. Robert was an avid boater and fisherman, and built his first boat after moving to Essex, CT from St. Louis. He was a member of the Ocean Reef Club since 1985. He resided in Westport, CT for 39 years before moving to Old Saybrook, CT. He is survived by his wife Janet and two sons, Steven C. Brown of North East, MD and David R. Brown and his wife Kathleen, of White Plains, NY and two grandchildren. Robert was a devoted husband and father whose wisdom and guidance will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Riverview Cemetery, North Main Street, in Essex. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to the Thoracic Oncology Program Fund at Smilow Cancer Hospital, 35 Park Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
