Obituary of Anna H. Schoch
Anna Hall Schoch (Annie) died peacefully on March 13, 2016, at Apple Rehab Saybrook. She was the beloved wife of Charles H. Schoch (predeceased) for over sixty-five years. Born Apr. 8, 1925, Anna was a longtime resident of Essex, CT. At the annual Essex Shad Bake, Anna met Charles who was visiting relatives. That moment changed her life forever. She was the love of his life and they were wed May 17, 1947. They originally settled for a few years in Charles' home town of Bangor, PA, but eventually returned to Essex, where they built a new home and family. Anna's first job was at Greenberg's in Essex. Through the years, she kept her hands busy raising three daughters, and also working at Essex Pharmacy, Essex Theatre, Doane's Pharmacy and Candlewood Gift Shop, until each of these establishments closed. Her talent with crafts was well known as she supported fundraising efforts by hand sewing "Kitchen Witches", turned her skills to decorating table Christmas trees, and crocheted blankets and donated them to local churches.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Essex. "Annie" is survived by three daughters (Nancy Schieferdecker, Cynthia Schoch, Barri Belfanti), and two son in-laws (Walter Schieferdecker, Thad Belfanti). "Mi-Mi", as she was referred to by her three granddaughters (Dawn and Kyle Schieferdecker and Shannon Belfanti) will be remembered fondly. A private visitation was held for the immediate family. A Memorial Service and burial with Charles will be on Saturday May 14th, 2016 at 10:00 at the Saint Johns EpiscopalChurch in Essex. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Essex Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 233, Ivoryton, CT 06442; Essex Fire Engine Co. #1, P.O. Box 911, Essex, CT 06426.
