Obituary of Frances Apell

Frances C. Apell, 66, passed away at Yale - New Haven Hospital on March 15, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Richard J. Apell. She was born in Patrick County, Virginia on May 11, 1949. Frances had been a resident of Killingworth since 1970 and a Production Coordinator at Whelen Engineering in Chester where she had been employed for 42 years. She loved the beach, the water, and was an avid reader and one who enjoyed fashion. Her home was also open to friends and family and she enjoyed entertaining and taking care of others. Frances loved her convertible and always wanted to look her best. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother grandmother and friend. Besides her husband Richard, she is survived by her two sons, David M. Sawyer Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Minnesott Beach, NC., and Bryan R. Apell of Haddam, her grandchildren, Samantha Jolyn Sawyer of Wilmington, NC., and David M. Sawyer III of Minnesott Beach, NC. She was predeceased by her brother, Leo Pipes. A visitation will be held on Sunday March 20, 2016 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM with a Prayer Service following at 4:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, in Centerbrook.
