Obituary of Charles Schreiber
Charles Schreiber, 88, of Indiantown, FL, formally of Westbrook passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 11, 2016 at VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol (Goodhue) of 45 years. He was born in Westbrook on April 3, 1927 to Charles Sr. and Johanna Schreiber. He is survived by his daughters Karen (Edward) Stachura of Vero Beach, FL and Sharon Persutti of Westbrook. He is also survived by his grandchildren Darryl (Ashley) Ward, Allison (Marc) Pacin, Lyndsey Persutti and Catherine Stachura. He was a US Navy World War II veteran, was a member of the Westbrook Fire Dept. for 45 years and was a past 1st Asst. Chief. Charlie was also a founding member of the Westbrook Ambulance Assoc. He retired as building superintendent of the Fowler Nursing Home in Guilford in 1989. Following his retirement he moved with his wife to Hobe Sound, FL. After the passing of his loving wife Carol, he moved to Indiantown, FL where he was a charter member of the Lions Club and belonged to the Family Worship Center. Charlie loved to fish, bowl, play cards and Bocce ball. The family would like to sincerely thank his caregivers at VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach and request memorial donations be made to VNA Hospice House, 901 37th St. Vero Beach, FL 32960. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A memorial service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Cypress Cemetery, Route 153 in Westbrook.
