I came across this today, and although I am deeply saddened by his passing, I have thought of my former teacher at HCC often. He was an inspiration to me as a person and as a teacher. He was the teacher I wrote about when asked "Who inspired me to become an art teacher. I remember saying at 18 yrs of age I had an interest in pottery, and in a blink of an eye he sent students down to the basement of HCC to bring up 2 pottery wheels for me to use. He helped me develop an interest and confidence in my art which is and always will be clay. thank you for sharing your enthusiasm in art Mr. Kintzler.

I got to know David only recently over a mutual interest in antique typewriters. We spent hours at his home talking about those machines and their industrial designs, and about out vegetable gardens, and about countless other seemingly mundane things. I liked David. I wish I could have met him earlier in my life, though I am grateful to have gotten to know him at all. I will miss him and, to his family, you have my most sincere condolences.

I am a former neighbor and boyhood friend of David dating back to the mid-1950's. I have fond memories of our childhood in Cleveland. I fondly recall David and his sister and parents and was saddened to just recently learning of his passing. I did contact him during the past 5 to 7 years. If at all possible, I would like to have David's sister, Norma, contact me so that I might share with her my recollections of David and their parents.

I hadn't seen David and Mary since 1964 when my then husband and I lived in an apartment below them on Huguenot Street in New Paltz, NY. We were all newly married. A favorite memory is exploring that beautiful area with them. One day we piled into their van and David drove us up the Hudson toward Catskill, NY, where we looked for the Thomas Cole house. We were astonished to find it being watched by a lone elderly woman caretaker who let us in to look at some of those extraordinary Hudson River School paintings. We were all so thrilled to have such an experience, and shocked to see how easily accessible and little security his cottage seemed to have.
My husband and David and Mary were both stressed first year teachers, and I was finishing college. We had a young cat as they did. They would bring their cat, BlueAnn, downstairs to our place after a day of teaching and we'd have drinks to vent the day and laugh as the cats entertained us with their rambunctious play.
I'm sorry not to have kept in touch with David and Mary over the years, but the memories I have of them as our first neighbors when we were all so young have always brought me such pleasure. They were both great fun to spend time with, really good people. I am so saddened by David's passing. My deepest condolences to the family.

* David was my sculpture professor at Housatonic Community College from 1992-1995. The art influence and spiritual impact that he has left upon my heart, mind and soul will never be forgotton! Professor Kintzler presented me with my first copy of the: Tao Te Ching, along with two poetry books of: Rumi, for a graduation gift.
* To me, he will always be remembered as a magical wizard, whose tender existential thoughts inspired me to ponder the many amazing wonders of our universe and beyond;...But to the world, he may be best known for the creation of the bronze bust of Igor Sikorsky, displayed for many years inside the lobby of the BPT.'s Sikorsky Airport, located in Lordship,STFD.,CT.
* After my graduation, I kept in touch and continued to develop a deep friendship with him.
When they lived in Shelton, David & Mary often took my twin daughters to Pumpkin Seed Hill, and we even attended a Tom Petty concert on April 1st, in 1995.
* Over the years, we shared conversations about mysticism, our similar artistic interests and philosophies regarding nature & life's cycles.
Unfortunately, the last time we broke bread together was on the autumn equinox, September 21st, 2015. He, and his cat Cleo, were both doing okay, however, he did express some concerns regarding his health; and also told me how much he missed his beloved wife, companion and best friend, Mary.
* At the time, I'm glad that I was able to provide him with some comforting words and a hug! However, I last spoke to David in March 2016, and realized that something was amiss when the phone # was out-of-service. I am SO very sorry that I didn't get to communicate with him after that, but I am certain that he knew exactly how well loved he was by all of us!
* Reunited together at last in the stars that had united them, may the spirits of both David & Mary preside, as energy guardians, over their two beautiful daughters, grandchildren and their families...forever.

I have so many memories of Dave. He and Bob taught at HCC for years and years until Dave retired. We enjoyed his company, spent time with him and Mary at their home in Shelton. I am sorry for your loss. I also remember Melissa being one of my best students at SCSU

Dear Sasha and Melissa, my deepest sympathies are extended to both of you. Your Dad was such a kind and gentle man and your Mom was a sweetheart too. They were a beautiful role model for you girls. Memories will forever remain in your heart.
