Obituary of Marilyn A. Maynard
Marilyn A. Maynard, age 82, a lifetime resident of Westbrook passed away Wednesday morning, May 18, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family, with special gratitude given to her granddaughter Kathleen in her final weeks. Marilyn was the beloved wife of David W. Maynard III for 62 years. She was born in Hartford the daughter of Sidney F. and Frances (Knopp) Holbrook. She was a graduate of Morgan High School in Clinton in 1952. Marilyn, her husband, David, and brother, Sid, were managing partners of Monoflo Septic Tank Company, Inc. in Westbrook until her retirement in 2002. She also served as the secretary of the family business. Marilyn served her community as a board member of the Westbrook Public Library for many years, a member of the Republican Town Committee for over 30 years. She was a Cub Scout Leader, Hi Y adviser and a member of The Westbrook Drum Corp and Color Guard. She was also instrumental in the creation of the former Vinal Technical School in Essex. Marilyn was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Westbrook. Besides her husband David, she leaves her sons, David W. Maynard, IV and his wife Laura of Ivoryton, and Thomas Michael Maynard and his wife Carol, of Westbrook, her daughters, Theresa A. Howard, of Westbrook, Pamela Jean Maynard and her partner, Nancy Slowick, of Norwich. She also is survived by her beloved 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and her brother, Sidney John Holbrook, of Westbrook. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Wojan. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23rd at 11AM, at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 53 South Main Street in Westbrook. Additional parking is available behind the fire house. A committal service will be privately held in the Holbrook family lot in Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's name to the Westbrook Public Library, 61 Goodspeed Drive, Westbrook, CT 06498 or Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 53 South Main Street, Westbrook, CT 06498.
