Obituary of Marie Ann Daudt

Marie Ann Myers Daudt, 94, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2016 surrounded by her family at Essex Meadows in Essex, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Captain Charles H. Daudt. She leaves behind and will be dearly missed by her son Charles H. Daudt Jr. of Bethel; daughter Diane M. Daudt of Old Saybrook; two grandchildren Deidre of Coral Gables, FL and Calin of Old Saybrook; sisters Frances Myers Tomcavage of Casselberry, FL and Marguerite Myers Schlitt of Vero Beach, FL; sister-in-law Lois Myers of Cape Coral, FL; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Florence Myers Hafner, sister Eleanor Myers Eskreis and brother Jack Myers. Marie was born on November 28, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Miami, FL. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ana Myers. She graduated from Physicians Laboratory School and then worked in Miami as a Laboratory Technician. In 1943, Marie became a Stewardess and was employed by Eastern Airlines. She was based at LaGuardia Airport in New York. This is where she met the love of her life, Charlie, who also was based out of New York and was a Captain for American Airlines. Marie and Charlie were married in 1945 in Miami Beach, FL and raised their family in Great Neck, L.I., NY. They belonged to Manhasset Bay Yacht Club where they enjoyed their days of racing. They then moved to Huntington, L.I., NY, and later Ridgefield, CT, eventually retiring to Essex, CT. In Essex, Marie and Charlie resumed their sailing and racing days again and were members of the Essex Yacht Club. Marie's passion was traveling around the world and enjoying many adventures. She was first and foremost a wonderful wife and loving mother and grandmother, who cherished her family and friends. She will be remembered for her open heart and gracious spirit. Her family is grateful to the entire staff at Essex Meadows for their compassion and care as well as Middlesex Hospital Hospice Services for all of their support. Visitation will be at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home ,34Main St.Centerbrook on Thursday from 10 to 11AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Essex on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The Essex Meadows Employee Appreciation Fund, 30 Bokum Road Essex, CT 06426; Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 14 Prospect Street, Essex, CT 06426; or Middlesex Hospital Hospice Services, Office of Philanthropy, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
