Obituary of Joseph R. Todaro
Joseph R. Todaro, beloved husband of Marguerite Ann (Stielau) Todaro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 7, 2016 at Middlesex Hospital at the age of 86. Joe was born October 6, 1929, in Jamestown, NY to Salvatore and Maria Todaro where he lived during his early childhood. On August 19, 1951 he married Marguerite. They had two sons, Dave and Jim and have resided in Ivoryton for the past 54 years. Joe was a veteran of the Korean War and served as Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. After leaving the Army he worked as a Foreman at Monsanto Manufacturing in Deep River CT. He retired from Monsanto after 30 years and then worked part-time as a mailman at the Ivoryton Post Office for the next 12 years. Joe loved spending time with his family and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing pool, faithfully did the daily crossword puzzle and enjoyed playing online poker (no money involved). Joe will be tremendously missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife Marguerite of 65 years, he is survived by his two sons Dave Todaro and his wife Ruth of Niantic, CT, and Jim Todaro and his wife Joanne of Higganum, CT. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Jessica Sanderson and husband Pete of Hartford, CT, Jeanna McCann and husband Andy of Bethel, CT, Joseph Todaro and David Todaro of Waterford, CT and Samantha Todaro of Niantic, CT. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by his brother Anthony Todaro and wife Helen of Bodswell, NY, and sister Rose Bradley of Tonowanda, NY. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Todaro. Visitation will be held on Sunday September 11th from 2:00PM to 3:30PM followed by a memorial service in the chapel of the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, in Centerbrook.
