Obituary of Kathleen Weaver Rand
Kathleen Ann Weaver Rand (Henny), age 83, passed away on October 7, 2016 in Middletown after a long illness. Born May 20, 1933, Kathleen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frederick, her son David and daughter-in-law Janice, her daughter Gayleen and son-in-law Michael, and her devoted grandchildren Megan, Tyler and Nicholas. In addition, she is survived by her brother Leon Weaver of Malabar, FL; numerous sisters- and brothers-in law, nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, Emeline (Harris) and Dudley Weaver, her brothers LeRoy, Dudley, John, Harold and Walter, and her sisters Emeline and Elizabeth. Spending most of her life in Old Lyme, Kathleen was quick to give, quick to laugh and a loyal friend. She cherished nothing more than family and friends, nurturing all who came in contact with her. She was the glue that held her extended family together. Kathleen was very proud of the years she spent working in the Old Lyme High School kitchens, never failing to help those she found to be in need in any way she could. She also enjoyed her later career at Clinton Instrument Company, assembling various cable testing equipment. David and Gayleen would like to thank the staff at Middlesex Hospital for their unflaggingly compassionate care during all of Kathleen's stays in that facility, especially the staff of the IMCU/CCU and Palliative Care group; Karen Conroy and the staff of Da Vita Middletown for their seemingly endless patience and support; Dr. Suresh D'Mello, without whom we would not have had the additional time with Mom that we were able to enjoy; and Beverley Thomas, whose tender care has allowed our parents to continue living in the home they hold most dear. Most of all, we would like to thank the family members who have shared in the care and support of our parents during difficult times. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in the Duck River Cemetery, McCurdy Road in Old Lyme. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen's name to the Old Lyme Volunteer Ambulance Association, Inc. P.O. Box 911, Old Lyme, CT 06371 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 (www.kidney.org).
