Obituary of Mary Therese Ummarino

Mary Therese (Teeda) Ummarino, 92 years old of Essex Meadows, Essex, CT. passed away peacefully on November 12, 2016. A long-time resident of Hasting-on-Hudson, NY, she was born on August 21, 1924 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Leonard and Mary (Tessie) Kuehnle. Teeda was a graduate of Mt. Notre Dame Academy and the University of Cincinnati where she was an active member of Theta Phi Alpha sorority. She married Joseph Ummarino of California and New York in 1950. Teeda was a fun and caring person who devoted her life to her family and her heart will live on through them. She loved to laugh, had a lively sense of humor, and many friends. She was not afraid to express her honest opinion. Loving books, she was an avid reader her entire life. She was active for many years in the Hastings-on-Hudson Women's Club and also volunteered for many years at both St. John's Hospital in Yonkers, NY and Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida. Avid boaters, Teeda and her husband Joe were active members for more than 30 years at the New York Athletic Club Yacht Club in Pelham Manor NY. Predeceased by her husband Joseph and her only brother Leonard W. Kuehnle, Jr. M.D., Teeda is survived by her four daughters-Mary Schall of Annapolis MD., Josephine (Daniel) Molino of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. and Niantic, CT., Christina (Kevin) Coyne of Hanover, MA., and Jennifer (Peter) Clarke of Madison, CT. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren and great grandson whom she dearly loved. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville, NY. Interment was held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial contribution to Our Lady of Sorrows Church 14 Prospect Street Essex, CT. 06426.
