Obituary of John Thomas Attridge
John Thomas Attridge, 83, of Deep River passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence in Deep River. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (McGovern) Attridge. John was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 17, 1933 the son of George Edwin and Mildred (Leary) Attridge. He attended Classical High School in Worcester and was a member of the ROTC at Holy Cross College where he graduated with a degree in Physics. John proudly served his country as a Lt. JG. In the United States Navy. He was a communicant at Saint Joseph's Church in Chester and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife Patty, he leaves his daughters, Betty Crawshaw and her husband John, and Susan Napier and her husband Stephen, his daughter-in-law, Sherie Attridge, his grandchildren, Rachel Daily, Amy McPhilemy, Adam Crawshaw, and Katie and Sean Napier, his great-grandchildren, Emma and Gibson Daily, and Nora McPhilemy. John also leaves his sister, Ann Beauregard, and brother, Bill Attridge and his wife Mary, sister-in-law, Betty Galvin and her husband Richard, brother-in-law, Bob Hynes and sister-in-law, Jane McGovern and his many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, George Attridge and daughter, Mary Attridge, his brother, George Attridge and his sister, Mary Hynes. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 11:00AM at Saint Joseph's Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue in Chester. Burial will follow with the rendering of Full Military Honors in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John's name to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, MD 20814.
