Obituary of Elizabeth Jean Hardgrove

Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Hardgrove, age 85 passed away peacefully at her residence in Ivoryton on Wednesday morning, June 4, 2014. Betty was the beloved wife of the late Bert Ezekiel Hardgrove who passed away on May 8, 1992. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on May 2, 1929 the daughter of Louis and Anna (Scannell) Everett. Betty lived most of her life in Ivoryton. She enjoyed her summers camping on Selden's Island with her family, embroidering and playing cards. Her home was always open to her children's many friends and she truly was a mother to many. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Darla Salemi and her husband Joel of Centerbrook, Everett Hardgrove and his wife Sharon, of Centerbrook, Edward "Beaver" Hardgrove and his wife Kristi of Higganum, Michael Hardgrove of Ivoryton, Benjamin Hardgrove and his wife Opal of Georgia, Patrick Hardgrove and his wife Uva of Maine, and Bobbi-Jo Hardgrove of Ivoryton, her brother, William Everett and his wife Pauline of Maine, and her sister, Sally Metzger of Florida. Betty also leaves her 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Bert, she was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Hardgrove, sisters, Patsey and Babe Benson, and her brother-in-law Edward Metzger. Funeral services and interment in the Riverview Cemetery in Essex will be privately held by her family.
