Obituary of William Francis Spitzschuh
William Francis Spitzschuh, 80, of Deep River passed suddenly Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born October 12, 1936 in New Haven, CT, to the late Otto and Grace (Chubby) Spitzschuh. Bill resided in Deep River for 56 years with the love of his life and soul mate, Joan who recently passed a few months ago. Bill will be remembered as a kind and loving man, a pillar in the community. He was a member of the Deep River Fire Dept. for over 50 years, volunteered at the Historical Society, The First Congregational Church, Deep River Fife & Drum Corp, PTO, and others. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, sister and brother-in-law Florence and Lee Gianelli, and brother William (Fezzy) Evans. He is survived by grandson Billy (Deep River), daughter Cindy Stannard and husband Larry (Salem), granddaughter Kelly Stannard (Boston), son Bill Spitzschuh and wife Suzzane, grandchildren Sam and Libby Spitzschuh (Centerbrook). Also, sister Shiela Connelly (Guilford), cousin Darlene Tambarino (East Haven), sister-in-law Joann Evans (Ansonia), and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 12:00PM to 1:30PM at the Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. Following the visitation there will be a 2:00PM funeral service at The First Congregational Church of Deep River Congregational Church, 1 Church Street in Deep River with a reception following.
