Obituary of Geoffrey A. Sypher
On Friday December 23, 2016, we said goodbye to a beautiful soul, Geoffrey A. Sypher, 34, of Essex. Geoffrey was born April 1, 1982 to Raymond Sypher and Karen Cook Sypher. In addition to his parents, he leaves a sister, Kelly Sypher Burton, brother-in-law, Justin, and their children, Natalie, Tessa, and Mason, of Chester. He also leaves an aunt, many uncles and cousins, and tons and tons of friends. Geoffrey was an amazing uncle. He adored playing with his nieces and nephew because, in part, he was a big kid himself. Christmas with Geoffrey was fun because he was so excited to get presents and we always had to remind him that he was an adult and he had to wait his turn. He was an avid fan of the Giants and the Red Sox and he made sure everybody knew it. He loved fishing with his father, his best friend. Geoff had a twisted sense of humor and a brilliant sarcastic wit. He was also a supportive champion of the underdog. His big green eyes and his smile were unforgettable. Geoffrey left a lasting impression. Despite all of these amazing qualities, Geoffrey suffered. He fought a long, hard battle with addiction, but the monster was too strong for his sensitive nature and gentle heart. Addiction stole the potential of this gifted man from his loving and devastated family. It is our quest to help end the stigma of addiction and with that, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Geoffrey's name to Shatterproof, 101 Merritt 7, Norwalk, CT 06851 or online at www.shatterproof.org. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 5pm - 7pm at Robinson, Wright, and Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook. A celebration of Geoffrey's life will take place on Friday, December 30 at 4:00pm at The Carriage House, 245 Main Street, Deep River. Burial will be private.
