Obituary of Deborah Ann Groth
Deborah Groth, age 62. Our beloved Deb passed away on January 12th after a long and heroic battle with cancer. Her feisty spirit and love of decorating and cooking will always be remembered by her many friends and relatives. But her love of children, especially those with special needs were the driving force of the many twists and turns of her life. It was this fondness for kids that led her to work for Learn, Inc. for 18 years as a para educator followed by several years for area schools as well as the District 4 for the last six years. She was a member of Deep River Congregational Church where she loved to sing and attend worship. Deb was very involved with the Deep River JR Ancient Fife and Drum Corps with her children. She brightened every room she walked into and spread joy and happiness among everyone whom she met. Deborah loved to dance and would always appreciate the invitation to sit in and sing along with her brother Brian's or her husband Tom's bands' local area performances. Deb is survived by her husband Thomas, daughters Francesca Brooks and Misty Harris, and seven amazing grandchildren: Austin, Mason, Colton, Addison, Joshua, Emily, and Jake. She also leaves behind brothers John Caron, Greg Sardinha, Brian Caron and his wife Jan, and her sister Rosalyn Sardinha. She was predeceased by her mother Barbara Sardinha and her sister Paulette Carpenter. A visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook on Friday January 20th from 5-7PM. A Memorial Service for Deb will be held at the Deep River Congregational Church on Saturday January 21st at 11AM followed by a celebration of Deb's life at the Carriage House of the Deep River Historical Society across the street from the church. If you wish to make a contribution in Deb's name please consider making it to the Deep River Congregational Church, PO Box 246, Deep River, 06417, or to Middlesex Hospice, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457.
