Obituary of Harold E. LeMay
Harold E. LeMay, Jr., passed away peacefully on June 10th after a long illness. He was born on March 1, 1926 in Shaowu, Fukein, China, to Reverand Harold E. LeMay Sr. and Ruby H. (Marston) LeMay. Harold grew up in Ayer, Massachusetts, and attended Lawrence Academy and Boston University. He served in the Navy during World War II. In 1960, he moved his young family to Chester, and worked as a machine mechanic for Monsanto Company in Deep River until 1977. In his retirement, he enjoyed life with Marian, traveling, canoeing, reading, cooking for family and occasionally writing assignments from Random House Publishers. He is survived by three children: John Fredd LeMay and his wife Lisa, of Sandgate, VT; Leslie LeMay and her husband Howard R. Tunick, of Essex, CT; and Craig Shaw LeMay, of E. Haddam, CT. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Evan A. Bargnesi and his wife Laura Alford, of Bakersfield, CA; Adam LeMay, and Emma LeMay, both of Sandgate, VT; and two sisters: Miriam Blackmon, of Waldeboro, ME; and Rebecca Strange, of Olympia, WA. He is survived also by his former wife Barbara (Fredd) Robertiello. He was predeceased by a brother, David M. LeMay, and a sister, Barbara Gulla; and by his wives Anne C. (Shaw) LeMay, and Marian Wendes Taylor. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright, & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook, CT. on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, Estuary Council of Senior Citizens, 220 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT., 06475.
