Obituary of Eugene G. Stevens

Eugene "Gene" Stevens, 73, beloved husband of late Loretta (Sonnichsen) Stevens. He was born October 2, 1943. He was raised in Portland, CT and resided in Deep River for over 40 years. He was the son of the late Millicent (Potter) Stevens and late Frederick Stevens. Gene passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 28, 2017. He was employed by Uarco in Deep River in 1971 for over 26 years as Pressman and continued service with Design Label as Pressman until his retirement in 2009. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him, in particular his daughter Renee Stevens of Guilford, CT., and daughter, Sherrie Heikes, and her husband Mareno of York, PA., and his grandson John Ames of Red Lion, PA. His longtime friend and partner of over 25 years, Doris MacArthur was a special part of his life. Gene has two sisters, Janet Gallagher and her husband Dale of Meriden, Betsy Kensel and her husband Ray of Middletown, and a brother, Edward Stevens, and his wife Doris of The Villages, FL, and sisters-in-law, Reni, Barbara, and Patricia Stevens. He was dearly loved by sister and brother-in law: Judith Dana of Barnwell, SC and Richard Sonnichsen of Chicago, IL and their families. He was predeceased by four brothers, John "Jack" Stevens, Donald Stevens, William Stevens and his late wife Thelma, and Richard Stevens. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM to 12:00PM on Friday, February 3rd at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, in Centerbrook. A funeral service will be at noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River.
