Obituary of Gertrude Carlson Peterson

Gertrude C. Peterson, age 97, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014 at the Apple Rehabilitation in Old Saybrook following a long illness. She was born in Deep River on March 29, 1917 the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Millicent (Watrous) Carlson. Gertrude was the beloved wife for sixty two years of A. Raymond Peterson. He predeceased her on November 4, 2007. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Peterson and Donna Currier and her husband Steven, all of Old Lyme. She also leaves her five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and her brother, Edward Carlson, of Groton. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her two sisters, Eleanor Carlson and Vivian Gustafson. Gertrude enjoyed her home and family. She sang in the choir and was the organist at the Centerbrook Congregational Church for many years. A memorial service will be held at the Flanders Baptist and Community Church, 162 Boston Post in East Lyme on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:00AM. Burial will be privately held in the Centerbrook Cemetery in Centerbrook.
