Obituary of Betty Louise Kelly
Betty Louise Kelly, 74, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 4, 2014 in Old Saybrook, CT. Betty is survived by her husband, Ronald MacMahan; brother Steve Yaeger; children Kristy, Jodi and Todd; daughter-in-law Joanna; and grandchildren Lua, Kim, Bella, John, and Dominic. Together they honor Betty's memory, and thank her friends for their support. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Vernon; and her brother, Glen. Betty was born in Bloomington, IL to Vernon and Juanita Yaeger on March 1, 1940. She graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1958, earned a bachelors degree in English from the University of Wyoming in 1963 and received her master's degree from the University of South Florida in 1993. Betty was a beloved English teacher at Mercyhurst Preparatory School, an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, and a founding member of the Erie Playhouse Youtheatre in Erie, PA. After moving to Bonita Springs, FL in 1988, Betty worked as a school counselor in the Immokalee School System in Collier County for over 20 years. She was an active member of P.E.O (Chapter HM) and The First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. Betty enjoyed theatre, traveling, charades, and spending time with her friends and family. She had a special talent for making friends and connecting them to one another. A memorial service will be held on June 26th at 2pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs. A celebration of her life will take place directly after the ceremony at the Hacienda Village Clubhouse in Bonita Springs, FL.
