Obituary of Ronald J. Raecek
Ronald J. Raecek, 75, of Old Saybrook, beloved husband of Toni (Bonetti) Raecek, died Wednesday April 12, 2017 at his home with family at his side. He was born October 31, 1941 in Middletown, the son of the late Joseph and Lucy ( Soklowski ) Raecek and had lived in New Britain prior to moving to Old Saybrook 20 years ago. Ron was a Cum Laude graduate of Porter & Chester School of Design. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Radar Specialist on the U.S.S. Little Rock. Ron worked as a Machine Design Engineer most notably at Textron Aerospace and Standyne spanning over his 35 year professional career. He was a communicant at Saint John Church in Old Saybrook and was a member of the VFW Post 511 in New Britain. Ron enjoyed fishing, boating and was a fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. For many years, he enjoyed his time on Long Island Sound with his fishing pole in the water. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his sister, Rita (Hugh) Lambert of Florida, his two sons, Ed and his wife Tracey Raecek, of Florida, Jonathan and his wife Julie Raecek of Plano, Texas, and his five grandchildren, Noah, Tristan, Jack, James and J.J. Raecek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 29th at Saint John Roman Catholic Church, 161 Main Street in Old Saybrook.
