Obituary of Estelle L. Leitner

Estelle I. Leitner, age 94, of Westbrook passed away on Tuesday morning May 16, 2017 at The Water's Edge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown. She was the beloved wife of the late John Leitner who predeceased her on March 14, 2009. Estelle was born in Deep River on August 11, 1922 the daughter of Fred and Sybil (Jones) Lebert. She had been a resident of Westbrook since 1953 and was a longtime member of The First Congregational Church of Westbrook. Estelle was a member of the VFW Auxiliary; she was an avid gardener, and an excellent cook and baker. Her fantastic Christmas cookies and fudge will be long remembered by her family and many friends. Estelle leaves her two daughters, Diane L. Chrystal of Westbrook, and Sharon Mateyov and her husband Steve of Killingworth. She also leaves her grandchildren, Timothy J. Chrystal and his wife Elizabeth, Tricia A. Chrystal, Stephen W. Mateyov, and Ryan J. Mateyov and his wife Sue, and her three great-granddaughters, Taylor, Sophia and Tahlia and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook from 5:00PM to 6:30PM. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the funeral home chapel at 6:30PM. Interment will be privately held by the family in the Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook.
