Obituary of Anthony Henry Alfano
Anthony Henry Alfano, lovingly known as "Pete", entered into eternal rest with God, his loving Father on June 21, 2014. He was born in Freeport, LI, New York, the only son of Anthony and Clara (Valois) Alfano. He grew up in New Haven and has resided in Old Saybrook for the last 45 years. He graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven in 1955 and enlisted in the U.S. Airforce. He is a graduate of UCONN and has been an avid fan of the Women's and Men's Basketball teams. He was also a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Pete was an Industrial Engineer and most recently was Sales Manager for the Essex Products Group. He was a communicant of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Old Saybrook and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He participated in many Life in the Spirit Seminars and Phillips Retreats. Pete was also co-director of the religious education program for Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex for 5 years. He loved life and all its up and downs, especially singing, dancing, laughing, fun and travel. Pete will be remembered as a loving and charismatic guy and people always knew when he was around. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine (Perfetto) Alfano, his three daughters, Kristen, Nancy, and her husband Mike, and Stephanie, his nine grandchildren, Lauren, Tim, Peter, Ethan, Jonah, Mary, Sydney, Robert, and Molly. He also leaves his two sisters, Clara Civitello and Dolores Voelker and many loving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the palliative caregivers, therapists and hospice nurses at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:00AM at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 161 Main Street in Old Saybrook. The rendering of Full Military Honors will follow at the church. Interment will be privately held.
