If this Rick Harrison was the Rick Harrison who also taught at Montclair Academy, NJ, where he had been head boy, then he was my first teacher there when I went to 7th grade in Sept 1959. I had him for Reading that year, and English the next year. He really introduced me to the love and glory of the English language and literature, something which has stayed with me all my life, thankfully. He also worked hard with me to teach me how to read appreciatively and intelligently, and how to study, as I never had to do that before. He was by far my favorite teacher there.
I left Montclair Academy and went, of all places, to the Hill School, not knowing until today when I read the Hill School obits that he had also gone there. A number of times in the intervening years I have tried to find him to convey my appreciation and thanks, but in those pre-internet days I never could. And now I find out I am too late. Know that even though I was only a small part of his life almost 60 years ago, he was a big part of mine.
Thanks
