Obituary of Paul F. Freudenstein
Paul F. Freudenstein, 66, of Chester, CT, died Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Mr. Freudenstein was born on December 21, 1950, the son of late Lydia (Markham) Freudenstein and Frederic Freudenstein. He was a loving brother to his two sisters. He grew up in Waterford, graduated from Waterford High School, and served in the US Army. He married his wife, Sandra (Rose) Freudenstein, and the two of them went off for two years on his assignment in Ulm, Germany. Upon returning they lived in Niantic, and both attended University of Connecticut, earning Bachelor's degrees. They then moved to Chester where they raised their two sons. He worked for 32 years in inventory control at Electric Boat in Groton, before happily retiring to spend more time with his family. He was a caring and dedicated brother, husband, father, uncle and very excited to have recently become a grandfather. His love and dedication to his close friends and family, both immediate and extended, as well as his passion for music, were his greatest joys in life. He was extremely proud of his two sons upon their graduations from college and finding their way in the world. As kids, he shared his love of music with his sons as well as delighting in family trips to the beach, where he passed on his talent for bodysurfing. He also enjoyed outdoor activities like mountain biking, hiking, and cutting firewood. He really found joy in gatherings with family and close friends, where he could laugh, reminisce, and take part in a friendly competition. He was well known for his easygoing nature and sarcastic sense of humor, which everyone close to him will always remember. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Sandra Freudenstein; sons, Mark Freudenstein and Eric Freudenstein; sister, Mary (Freudenstein) Thompson; daughter-in-law, Corrie Freudenstein; and granddaughter, Annalesa Freudenstein. He is predeceased by his sister, Doris (Freudenstein) Holly. A service honoring Paul will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the First Congregational Church of Deep River, 1 Church Street in Deep River at 11:00AM.
