Obituary of Salvatore Joseph Bartolotta Sr.
Salvatore Joseph Bartolotta, Sr., age 85, beloved husband of Theo-Nancy (Thomas) Bartolotta and longtime resident of Deep River passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Middletown on October 12, 1932 the son of Anthony Joseph and Josephine (Augeri) Bartolotta. Sal served his country proudly during the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. He was a supervisor at UARCO formerly of Deep River retiring after twenty years of service. Sal was very active in the Deep River community as a member of the Deep River Fire Department and an EMT with Deep River Ambulance Service. He coached both youth football in the Tri-Town Football League and Little League Baseball. He had a great love of baseball and played in the Army, and the Cromwell, Chester, and Deep River Town Leagues. He was an avid New York Yankee fan. Sal was a member of the Scandinavian Society in Deep River and had served on the Board of Directors and on the society's dinner committee. He enjoyed being at the beach, golfing, and upland pheasant hunting. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his loving wife of 65 years Theo-Nancy, he leaves his daughter, Cherryane Scott, of Middletown, son, Salvatore Joseph Bartolotta, Jr., of Payson, AZ, daughter, Toni Ann Bartolotta, of Chester, and son Anthony Michael Bartolotta, of Dallas, TX, his three grandsons, Richard A. Hoover, Robert C. Hoover, and Christian J. Bartolotta, of Chester, his three great-grandchildren, Finn, Teagan, and Hannah Hoover. Sal also leaves his brother, Michael J. Bartolotta, of Rhode Island. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, John S. Bartolotta and his sister, Josephine Cornell. A graveside service with the rendering of Full Military Honors will be held in the State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, in Middletown in the spring. The day and time will be announced in the future.
