Obituary of Corrine Louise Hunter
Mrs. Corrine Hunter, 88, passed peacefully with her family by her side on January 15, 2018 at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven CT. Corrine Hunter was born at St.Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut on October 22, 1929 to the proud parents of Ida (Jensen) and Conrad Kilberg of West Haven, CT. Corrine dedicated herself for many years to training horses, some of which made it to the Kentucky Derby. Many of the trophies and ribbons her horses won adorned the walls of her stable. Corrines compassion for animals was quite evident. She was never without a horse or any other animal at her farm where many memories were made. Corrine's compassion for animals was so strong no animal was ever turned away from her care. She spent many years working locally in the resturaunt industry. Several places were the Hungry Lion and the Top of the Dock in Clinton, CT. and the Branford Beefsteak Tavern. She continued to work until the young age of eighty years old. She was well known in the community and loved by all. Corrine was lucky enough to have resided in many different places, all of which enriched her life experiences. There was never a a journey too big or too small, never a challenge she wouldn't accept, and no one she wouldn;t stand up for. Her compassion was amazing. She brought hope and strength to everyone using encouraging words and sharing her wisdom. Simply said, she was a remarkable woman. Corrine is survived by her sister Majorie Shea as well as her nieces and nephews, her daughter Kristine Habbe and husband Alan Habbe of Gales Ferry, CT, her two grandchildren,whom she helped raisse since their birth,Leslie Anne Hodges and husband Franklin Treat of Clinton CT., Carlene Louise Townsend of Killingworth CT.,and four great hgrandchildren Ava Rose, Ananbelle , Annastasia and Robbie. Corrine was pre-deceased by daughter Carla Ann Hunter Hodges,husband Fred Hunter and her son-in-law Jack Hodges Jr. A graveside service for family and close friends was held in honor of Corrine Hunter at the Oak Grove Cemetery in West Haven CT on Friday January 19, 2018.
