Obituary of Marion V. Denegre

Marion V. (Fusco) Denegre, 89, of Westbrook, the beloved wife of the late Mark Denegre passed away peacefully at her home on March 13, 2018 surrounded by her beloved family. She was born April 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Sebastian and Anna (Sperandeo) Fusco. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in New Haven. She and her mother Anna established a women's retail lingerie business, Saxon Kent in Derby, and later a second store was opened in Orange. In addition she and her two sisters, Edna and Anita with their mother founded the St. Anne's Pilgrim Society of New Haven. Their mission was to bring pilgrims to the Miraculous Shrines in Quebec Canada. This family pilgrimage tradition is ongoing and has been for 81 years. Marion leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. She was a professed Third Order Dominican since 1972. She initiated the daily rosary devotion at St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Westbrook. In her retirement Marion volunteered at the Saint John School and the Estuary Council of Senior Citizens both in Old Saybrook. She is survived by her four beloved children, Faythe Papp and husband Roger of Westbrook, Donna Roy and husband Gerard of Branford, Martha Morse, and husband Richard of Ava Maria, Florida, and Mark Denegre and wife Ann of Centerbrook. She is also survived by 12 loving grandchildren, Michelle and husband T.R., Sara and husband Mark, Jennifer , Jon , Michael and wife Cristina, Daniel and wife Sara, Matt and wife Jackie, Nicholas, Gerard and wife Reesa, and Theodore, Juliana and Mary , her beloved great- grandchildren, Max, Lainey, Joseph, James, Gemma, John, Anthony, Vincent, Maria, Dominic, Mark Joseph and Finn James. Marion also leaves her sister and best lifelong friend Edna Casolino of Orange. Marion's other sister and best lifelong friend Anita Valente predeceased her on March 10, 2018. Please join Marion's family for a prayerful visitation from 10:00AM to11:00AM Friday, March 16, 2018 at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 222 McVeagh Road in Westbrook. Following the visitation a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Avenue in West Haven.
