Obituary of Betty Calamari Ziobron

Betty C. Ziobron, 84, of Chester passed away peacefully on July 3, 2014 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was the beloved mother of Toni C. Myers and her companion, Ray Swol and Wendy C. King and her husband, E. John King, Jr. Betty was born in Ridgefield, New Jersey on December 21, 1929, youngest daughter of Dorothea (Nehb) and Gustav David. She graduated from Chester High School, Class of 1947. Betty married John L. Calamari, on October 27, 1951. They built their Chester home on property given to them by her father and she has resided there ever since. Betty loved her home. She loved to cook and bake sweet treats for others. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to her favorite restaurants and helping friends in need. She had many fond memories of attending the annual Chester High School reunion and playing cards with friends at the Estuary. Besides her daughters, Betty is survived by her sister Emma Rudewicz, grandchildren, Stacy M. and Rodney Alston, Kristin (Roberts) and Timothy J. Myers, Randy D. Myers, E. John King, III and Michael M. King. Betty was also blessed with her great-grandchildren, Ava , Elena, and Brayden Alston and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husbands , John L. Calamari and John J. Ziobron, her brother, Warren G. David, her sisters, Pauline L. Warren, Helen Olson, Dorothea Scharr and Augusta Mensching. Betty was a member of the United Church of Chester. Betty's funeral service will be held at The United Church of Chester, 29 West Main Street in Chester on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Route 145 in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter, 659 Tower Ave., First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112.
