Obituary of Jacqueline M Cooney

Jacqueline “Jackie” M. Cooney, 82, passed away peacefully, on April 7, 2011, at Harford Hospital. Born in New York City on March 20, 1929, she was the elder of two daughters to Pierre and Ursula Bultinck. Mr. Bultinck had been a hotelier, including time as General Manager of The St. Regis Hotel in NYC, where Ms. Cooney spent much of her youth. For many years, she had a rewarding career as owner and operator of a popular consignment/antiques shop called The Elephant’s Trunk, based in Old Lyme, CT. She retired in 2004, moving temporarily to Wilmington, NC. She returned to CT, settling in Essex. There, she was an active member of the community, including serving as a member of the Conservative Women’s Forum.She leaves a nephew, Frank P. Dunne, his wife Deanne, a grand-nephew, Patrick, and a grand-niece, Olivia, of Ridgewood, NJ. She was predeceased by a sister, Diane “Didi” Dunne, of Wilmington, NC and daughter, Carolyn Boyd, of St. Louis, MO. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wed., April 20th, at 11 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St., Essex, followed by interment at the Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook .In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr. P.O.
