Obituary of Cliffoed E. Ryon

Clifford E. Ryon Sr., 92 of Killingworth, beloved husband of Louise (Beaber) Ryon, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Deep River on June 7, 1918 the son of Edward and Mary (Gladwin) Ryon. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Good Conduct Metal, Victory Metal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a Silver Star and Purple Heart Metal recipient. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He retired from the John Zanardi Oil Company in 1986. In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Louise Van Haverbeke, of Chester, Diane and her husband Phil Collin, of New Britain, Nancy and her husband Timothy Reynolds, of Clinton, two sons, Clifford Ryon Jr. of Westbrook, and Edward Ryon, of Killingworth, two grandsons, Robert Collin of New Britain, and Jeffrey and his wife Florine Collin of Bristol, two granddaughters, Amanda and Lindsay Reynolds, both of Clinton. He was predeceased by his son-in law Alfred Van Haverbeke and a step-granddaughter, Maureen Van Haverbeke. Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service with Military Honors at the Higganum-Burr Cemetery, Route 81 in Haddam on Saturday, April 2nd at 11:00AM.
