Obituary of Michael Nucci

Michael Nucci, 94 , a lifelong resident of Deep River died suddenly on March 24,2011 at his home. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Hadden) Nucci who passed away in 2003. Mike owned the OK Barber Shop in Deep River from 1938 -1980, retiring at age 65. In 1941 Mike married Elizabeth Haddan of Hartford. He was a proud Army veteran serving from 1941-1945 in the European Theater, he was the 2nd Selectman in Deep River from 1964-1976, member of the Deep River Fire Dept., Board of Finance, Civil Defense, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Deep River Historical Society and the Democratic Town Committee and was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Deep River Rotary Club in 2008. Mike is survived by his children; Diane Nucci Novinski and Michael A. Nucci both of Old Saybrook, seven grandchildren, his brother Dino Nucci of Newington and his sister Mary Brookes of Westbrook. In addition to his wife Mike was predeceased by his son Kernan M. Nucci, his brothers Vincent, Peter, Ernest and Joseph. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 5-7pm at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Ave. Chester on Tuesday at 11am.Interment with full military honors will follow at Fountain Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Mike’s name may be made to the Deep River Historical Society, Box 151, Deep River, CT 06417.
