Obituary of Stannard Norton

Stannard H. Norton, 80, of Essex passed away Friday morning March 4, 2011 at his residence. He was born April 6, 1930 in Hartford the son of the late Raymond R. and Lynda H. (Stannard) Norton and was raised in Westbrook. Stannard was a Marine Corp veteran, a member of the Westbrook Historical Society, and an active supporter of many organizations, including the Westbrook Library. Stannard was a broker in the financial industry working at several banks, including Clinton National Bank, and for many years at Merrill Lynch in Manhattan. He is survived by his brother Edward “Ted” Norton of Westbrook, three nieces: Grace Jeromski, Catherine Norton, Susan Norton, and two nephews: Wayne and Glen Norton. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Raymond R. “Russ” Norton, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the First Congregational Church of Westbrook, 1166 Boston Post Road in Westbrook. Private burial will be in Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Westbrook Historical Society, 1196 Boston Post Road, Westbrook, CT 06498.
