Obituary of George M. Catrambone
George M. Catrambone of Old Saybrook, the beloved husband of Josephine (DiLeo) passed away on Sunday evening, February 6th at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was born in South Seaville, New Jersey on December 17, 1924 the son of James and Mary (Valente) Catrambone. George and Josephine were married at Saint Lucy’s Church in Newark, NJ on April 9, 1949. George has been a resident of Old Saybrook for the past two years and was formerly of Manahawkin, NJ where he resided for twenty six years. George was employed by United Airlines in Newark for 38 years as an Airline Mechanic and retired in 1989. He was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. George was a longtime member of the Elks and also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the International Association of Aeronautical Machinists. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter, Gail M. Kenney of Madison, NJ, his son, George M. and his wife Maria, of Old Lyme, his son in law, Thomas P. Kenney of East Hanover, NJ, his grandchildren, Tiare, Megan, Michael, Christina, and TJ, Marina & Taylor. He also leaves his brother, John Catrambone of North Arlington, NJ., sisters, Margaret Johnson and Theresa Sgro, both of Kearney, NJ and Rose Russomanno of Madison, NJ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb.9th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John’s Church, 161 Main Street, in Old Saybrook on Thursday, Feb.9th at 11:00AM interment will follow in the Duck River Cemetery in Old Lyme with full Military Honors.
