Obituary of Norma Joy Lagasse

Norma Joy Lagasse, 80, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, February 5th in Panama City, Florida. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Lagasse, having spent 54 wonderful years together. Norma was born in Bristol on December 8, 1930 the daughter of the late Harold and Aline (Cote) Joy. She graduated in 1951 from the Saint Mary’s School of Nursing in Waterbury and enjoyed a career as a Registered Nurse practicing in convalescent home care, private duty home healthcare, and for many years was the school nurse at the Saint John’s School in Deep River. Norma had been a resident of Chester since 1953 and was a communicant of Saint Joseph’s Church and was a member of the Nathan Hale Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in East Haddam. She is survived by her daughter, Susan A. Sticht and her husband Craig of East Haddam, her sons, Garry F. Lagasse and his wife Sheila of Colchester, James E. Lagasse of Oakton, VA, her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her son Stephen J. Lagasse, her brother Robert Joy and sister Evelyn Bradfield. She will be dearly missed by her many wonderful friends in Panama City Beach, Florida. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home,34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 11th at 11:00AM at Saint Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue in Chester. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph’s Church.
