Obituary of Mae Louise Nelson
Mae Louise Nelson, age 90, of Mystic, passed away on Saturday evening, July 19, 2014 at her residence. Mae was the beloved wife of the late Evert Hjalmer Nelson, who predeceased her on March 22, 2002. She was born in Old Saybrook on August 8, 1923 the daughter of Richard and Mary (Urban) Endrich. Mae was raised in Old Saybrook and was a graduate of Old Saybrook High School, where she trained to be a secretary. Following her marriage to Evert they became proud parents to two adopted children, Linda and David. Becoming a mother and lovingly caring for her children was Mae's life joy. In 1971 they moved to Mystic where as a family they owned and operated Seaport KOA Campground. They retired in 1987, enjoying many winters in Florida. Mae found special pleasure in her indefatigable daily walking and biking, through which she forged relationships with all her neighbors, as well as gardening. She loved roses and zinnias, and said she felt closer to God in her raspberry patch than anywhere else. She will be remembered as a loving, kind, and smiling wife, mother, sister, and neighbor. She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Nelson and her partner Judith Jerome of Stonington, Maine, her son, David B. Nelson, of Mystic, her sister, Evelyn Sage, and her husband Walter of York, Maine, her niece, Cindy Raymond and her husband Kevin, her nephew, Walter Sage, Jr. and his wife Janet, and her 4 special grand-nieces and nephews, Meagan, Matthew, Kristin, and Michelle. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her brother, Richard Endrich and his wife Johanna (Jody). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24th at 10:30AM at Saint Joseph's Church, 48 Middlesex Ave. in Chester. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Route 145 in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mae's name may be made to Opera House Arts, P.O.
