Bob and I have worked on the railroad together for many years. His love of railroading and his ability to build electric cars is legendary. I have never known him to get flustered, no matter the situation. He was once driving to work in his battery/electric and realized that the train he was paralleling on I-95 was the very train he was assigned to drive to New York. He said that he just kept the "pedal to the metal" and beat the train into the station by a few seconds, with only a few remaining battery amps. He then jumped from his electric, dove into the locomotive and managed to depart on time. Bob was truly a good friend to all who knew him. If he rode the headend with you, and you enjoy nonstop talking, then you were in for a treat. I installed an electrical outlet on the front of my garage just so he could "top off his batteries" when he'd come to visit. God bless you Bob, and thanks for the memories.
