Dear Kathi & Kelley, My sincere & belated condolences. Peter always had the time to share a story, a laugh, or an insight on something. His pleasant memory will live on through the people who's days he brightened with his cheerful, positive attitude and sense of humor. Pete, I'll always remember our " NX-11 Friday night check-in calls...." Thanks for caring.

My husband and I were saddened to hear of Peter's death. He was a morning companion on the 6:18, always with a smile, a story to relate or information to give. He was interesting and interested in the world and people around him. Our thoughts are with his family, of whom he spoke often.

Dear Kathi and Kelley, My sincere condolences to both of you. Peter was a wonderful man with a good heart. He was very proud of you, Kathi, and Kelley, his dearest daughter. His life was cut short at a time when he should be enjoying retirement, grandchildren, travel and living on the river with his beloved Kathi in their home, Gaga and DanDan's homestead. In time your pain and saddness, will dissapate and your loving memories with bring you peace and joy, although there will always be that empty space in your life and heart. You all are in my prayers. I am so sorry. With love and understanding, Laurie

There is a hole in my heart for you Peter. Although we have been very different, I have and always will love you and miss you. I am most sad for you, Kathi and Kelley whereby you had just retired, live where you want to and had a life filled with fun, joy, travel and love ahead of you and now you are gone. You are a wonderful guy and everyone loved you. You lived a life that mattered and have now sailed to another shore to be with Mom and Dad along with all those others who passed on before you. Give Mom and Dad a hug for me. Rest in peace.
Kathi, my heart reaches out to you as I know there are no words that can ease your pain and feeling of loss. I love you and am here if I may assist in any way. I will stop by and visit to offer my condolences in person.
Kelley, you brought Peter much joy, happiness and love. Thank you for being you. I know you and Edouard will take good care of your Mom and stay close to her as she now needs you more than ever.
My lack of attendance at the gathering last evening and service today was a personal choice to allow me to endure my brother's passing in my own private way. Thank you for your understanding.
Love,
Bob

Peter was a man who appreciated good, strong writing but words fail at a time like this. We loved him for his lusty laugh, his hearty appreciation of great food, his insistence on his deeply held opinions and his magnificent Italian. I was in Italy when I heard this crushing news, and until I return I know that Peter's huge spirit will come to me each time I try to cobble together a sentence in his beloved adopted language. Candles are burning in remembrance in every church I visit. Our deepest condolences go to Kathi and Kelly during this time of shock and sorrow. Peter with be sorely missed and never forgotten by all of us who loved and admired him.

Peter's greeting of "What's happenin'" was always the start of a pleasant conversation! Integrity, warmth, generousity, clear writing and sensible, innovative ideas were his hallmarks.
His book:"Penn Central Railroad" is the best history of that railroad ever written. Mary Jane and I loved Peter as a long time close friend, and we shall miss him deeply.

Peter worked in our offices for a while and was always ready to share a good story or a hearty laugh - frequently about a great meal or restaurant he and Kathi found. I had the pleasure of working on a project with him and then really saw how brilliant and passionate he was about railroading. That project lead us into many philosophical discussions about the future, which were continued every time we ran into each other. I will remember him for his larger than life personality, generosity, caring, sense of humor, and love of food (Peter Lunch). He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy on the sudden passing of Peter. He was a vibrant person. I worked with Peter on the New Haven Line rail project and I enjoyed his railroad stories and his ideas on how the job should be built. I especially enjoyed his stories of your trips to France. I am sure those times will be some of your best memories of him. He will be missed.

Kathi & Kelley, there are just no words to express my sorrow for your loss of Peter. He was one of my dearest friends, and Saturdays will never be the same for me without him. We've spent just about every
Saturday for years now talking politics, railroad, stock market, and just about any subject you could think of, over breakfast. I wish you the very best, and you can be sure that Pete will be so very missed by many, many people. He was a great guy, and the best friend anyone could ask for.

What a shock to learn of Peter's passing - we had just discussed meeting for lunch in NYC in July! I first met Peter in 1976 as we worked together in Baltimore for Conrail - and we stayed in touch thru our careers and further moves, ending up in Phila. together. I respected his honest approach to issues - both business and political. He truly loved his family and was extremely proud of his daughter. I will miss miss him greatly.

Peter was a force of nature whom I was privileged to meet, and work with, especially recently as we developed what will be --- and I have promised Peter this --- one of the first successful, truly self-supporting rail corridors in the United States.
But for now, I simply miss him, his outsize personality, and his brilliance, and wish so much that he was still here on this earth, shoulder to shoulder, as we were just the other day, doing the work Peter loved.
My heart goes out to all the family...
