Obituary of Isabell Gustafson

Gustafson: Isabell Gustafson, age 94 passed away peacefully at her residence in Deep River on Sunday morning, August 21, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late R. James “Bob” Gustafson who predeceased her on May 29, 2011. Isabell was born in Ivoryton on July 30, 1917 the daughter of Julian and Julia (Budney) Bobienski. She was a life long resident of Deep River. Isabell’s working career was in manufacturing and during World War II she was employed at Pratt-Read in Deep River assembling gliders for the war effort, she than worked at Uarco in Deep River for over 35 years in numerous positions in production and office work. She was a volunteer at the Deep River Senior Citizens, the Estuary Council of Senior Citizens and the Thrift Shop both in Old Saybrook. Isabell was a member of the Deep River Garden Club and loved to play cards and travel. She is survived by her sons, Wayne R. Gustafson and his companion Gayle Murrell of Deep River, and Brian Gustafson of Old Saybrook, two grandsons, Thomas Gustafson of Deep River and David Gustafson of Jacksonville, FL, great-grandson, Matthew Gustafson, and her sister, Clara Corrigan of Pittsburgh, PA. Isabell was predeceased by her sisters, Doris Jennings and Gertrude Bobienski and her brother Stephen Bobienski. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Tuesday, August 23rd from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 24th at 11:00AM at Saint Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue in Chester. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery.
