Obituary of Ruth E. Bushnell
Ruth Bushnell of Round Rock, Texas who was a lifelong resident of Essex, passed from this world to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday, August 21, 2011. She was born in Essex on December 29, 1914; the daughter of the late Fredrick William and Eunice Mae (Sawyer) Edwards. Ruth was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Essex, attended Secretarial college in Hartford and worked until retirement at UARCO in Deep River. After her retirement she volunteered for many years at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She relocated to Round Rock Texas in 2004 to be nearer her immediate family where she loved being included in all the family celebrations. She lived in a beautiful senior independent retirement facility where she was the center of all their social activities. She was always the first one on the bus when local trips were planned. She loved all the games, especially bingo, where she was a frequent winner. She loved traveling back to her beloved Essex, which she did annually. Besides her visits, she kept up regular mail and phone contacts with her relatives and friends from the area. She enjoyed her other travels to Hawaii, California, Alaska, Florida and Arizona as well. She loved life to the fullest and was able to enjoy her life up until a few hours before our Lord took her to be with Him. She is survived by her nieces Doris Mimbs, Deneece McDonald and nephew Fredrick Edwards all living in Texas, as well as numerous Bushnell relatives from Connecticut and Texas. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by brother Robert Edwards and loving husband Jerome Edward Bushnell. A Graveside service will be held at the Riverview Cemetery in Essex at 3:00PM, Friday, August 26. In lieu of flowers, she and her family have requested that donations be made in her memory to the First Congregational Church of Essex, PO Box 237, Essex, CT 06426. We will all miss her smiling face but we know where her final journey took her. Her favorite quotation, which she reminded us of frequently, was "This world is not my home, I'm just passing through".
