Obituary of Marjorie Chafee

Marjorie (Bennett) Chafee, 91, of Essex, beloved wife of Henry Dexter Sharpe Chafee passed away Thursday September 15, 2011 at Essex Meadows Healthcare. Marjorie was born June 22, 1920 in Cincinnati, OH; the daughter of the late Arthur and Marian (Dale) Bennett. She grew up in Barrington, RI and lived for many years in Woodstock, CT before settling in Essex, where she had been a resident for 20 years. Marjorie was a member of the Women's Army Corp during WWII and was employed for many years as an X-Ray technician. She loved traveling to the southwest, specifically Colorado and Utah, and was an avid supporter of Southwest Native Americans. In addition to her husband of over 50 years she is survived by her son Gregory and his wife Kathleen Chafee of Atlanta, GA. Marjorie is predeceased by her brother Dale Bennett and her sister Joyce Coleman. Interment will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery in Barrington, RI. A Memorial Service will be celebrated in Hamilton Hall at Essex Meadows, 30 Bokum Rd., Essex at a date and time later to be announced.
