Obituary of Lynn D. Ewell

Lynn D. (McAvey) Ewell, 63, of Westbrook, died at Yale New Haven Hospital on September 28, 2011 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth A. Ewell, whom she married in 1974. Lynn was born in New York City, daughter of the late John & Irene (Robbins) McAvey. She grew up in River Edge, NJ, graduated from Vermont College, went on to work for the Groton Recreation Dept. and also the Ledyard School System as a Librarian. Most recently, Lynn had worked for Lux, Bond & Green. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Lynn is survived by and was the devoted mother of Stephen Ewell, and his wife Kelly, of Leesburg, VA and Lauren McDermott, and her husband Andrew, of Alexandria, VA. Lynn is also survived by her sister Nancy Costello and her husband Owen of Port Washington, NY, her brother Richard McAvey and his wife Valerie of Houston, TX, and their children. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7pm at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook. Funeral service will be on Tuesday 11am at St. John's Episcopal Church, Main St., Essex. Interment to follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic.
