Obituary of Henry A. Balestriere
Henry A. Balestriere, 90 years old, passed peacefully on November 20, 2011 at his daughter's home in Killingworth, CT. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was a graduate of West Philadelphia High School. He took great pride in having built his own home in Prospect Park, PA.
Henry was an infantryman in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the Aleutian Islands. He was a machinist and manufacturing engineer for the General Electric Company Switchgear Plant in Philadelphia for 37 years. He also worked for Container Research and the Crusader Machine Shop. He was an Eagle Scout, a Freemason member of Lodge 578 in Prospect Park, and an Optimist. Henry served his community for two terms on the Prospect Park Borough Council, was Chairman of the Library Board, the Zoning Board, and was a volunteer fireman for a time. He was a Trustee at the Olivet Presbyterian Church and was commander of Civil Air Patrol Squadron 907 for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Grace (Steele), his daughters, Annette Mehan and Constance Bombaci, and son-in-laws, Ron Mehan and James Bombaci. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date at Olivet Presbyterian Church.
